Ted Williams joined professional baseball in 1939 and spent his entire 19 season career with the Boston Red Sox. He emerged as one of the greatest hitters the game has ever seen. In his rookie season he led the league in RBIs and total bases, batted over .300 every season but one (1959), and most notably was the last player to bat over .400 (.406) in 1941. Williams ranks tied for 7th with Billy Hamilton for all-time career batting average and the highest of any player in the live-ball era. Williams still maintains the career record for on-base percentage.
Williams was a 19 time All-Star, winner of two Triple Crowns, 4 time AL RBI and Home Run leader, 6 batting titles and two time AL MVP. He ranks 14th on the 500 run club of Hall of Famers (521 career home runs).
