This was the last season the Phillies would achieve a winning record again until 1962. Six-time All-Star and two-time batting champion, Richie Ashburn batted .330 and led the 1953 National League season with 205 hits. Fellow Hall of Famer and 7-time All-Star, Robin Roberts, led the league with 23 wins, 198 strikeouts and 33 complete games.
