Though not built like a typical power hitter, 12-time All Star Mel Ott led the National League in home runs 6 times and the first National Leaguer and third player in history (after Babe Ruth and Jimmie Foxx) to reach the 500 home run milestone. Ott spent his entire 22 year career with the New York Giants and as Giants manager for 7 years.
