1953 Boston Red Sox Signed Baseball with Ted Williams, Lou Boudreau and George Kell
Official American League (Harridge) signed by 27 members of the 1953 Boston Red Sox. Signatures include Hall of Famers Ted Williams and Lou Boudreau sharing the sweet spot, and George Kell. Some uniform light toning and soiling, a couple small stains, stamping moderately faded and still legible; signatures generally bright with some scattered fading. A very good example. Among the three seasons where Lou Boudreau managed the Red Sox, 1953 was the only season the Red Sox completed the season with a winning record of 84-69. Unfortunately, the American League was dominated by Casey Stengel’s Yankees and the Red Sox would finish the season 16 games behind. Ted Williams rejoined his Red Sox after an abbreviated 1952 season and a late return to Boston as a result of his service in Korea. Although Williams only played only 37 games with 110 plate appearances, he completed the 1953 season with a .407 batting average and a .901 slugging percentage.
